Russia to continue taking measures to discover Nord Stream truth

MOSCOW, Mar 28 (PRIME) -- Russia is disappointed with results of the U.N. Security Council voting on its draft resolution on international investigation of the Nord Stream pipeline sabotage, and will continue taking every measure to discover the guilty parties and bring them to justice, Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Tuesday.

On Monday, only Russia, China, and Brazil voted for Moscow’s resolution that called for U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres to create an international commission to investigate the incident. All other members of the council abstained.

Zakharova said in a statement that the West is afraid of unbiased uncovering of the truth. Moscow is disappointed because the draft resolution took into account all concerns of the constructive partners and was aimed at ensuring an objective investigation.

“The situation when even a minimum state of transparency is reached only through attraction of attention of the Security Council to the corresponding activity on the national level only confirms the lack of alternatives to an independent international investigation of the sabotage’s circumstance. Russia will continue trying to take all the measures that are necessary to find out the guilty parties and bring them to justice,” she said.

A chance to send a clear signal that the attacks like the Nord Stream blast will be unacceptable in the future was missed because of the unwillingness of the West to attract anybody to the investigation under the pretext of national security. This puts the entire international energy infrastructure under threat, she said.
